October 20, Creating Pulse Arts Scarecrow

Image
8 hours in total I spent two hours shopping for the scarecrow. I was brainstorming what I wanted it to look like, while keeping in mind the guidelines. I had to go through process of elimination many times to come to finally find what I felt was the right outfit. The next six hours was me gathering hay from a ranch, and picking out a branch we could mount it to. I also got to write the poem about the arts in this time, which was calming and the highlight of this half of my project. The more challenging part was putting the scarecrow together and dressing it. I would always have to move it in awkward positions just to get the pants fit, or cut a piece off to make the shirt fit. There was a lot of hardships in this process. However the outcome ended up looking pretty good, so the stress was worth it. November 2, Taking apart the scarecrow  2 hours, 30 minutes This consisted of me going downtown to take the scarecrow down, and from there I took it all apart and thr...

For this portion it was our responsibility to go around the towns that were nearby and hang posters to raise awareness. Going into it, before conversing with my mentor, I initially thought I would just be able to hang up a poster where I please. However, I was taught differently when I asked my mentor how he wanted us to do it. It was a good learning opportunity for me. He told me that I need to go up to the people working, and tell them where I’m from and what we do, and what my intent is by going to them. I would tell them my name and how I’m from Nueva at Windsor High School and...

September 22, Actual Event and Set Up

Image
7 hours, 30 mins in total This was the day of the actual event, which started at five p.m.. The person I worked on this with and I went in a few hours early to help set up the event. We had to help set up the fundraiser section for Pulse Arts and the dance company that was also helping to put on this event. We helped with figuring out how we all wanted the layout, so it looked professional and people had easy visibility access. This was challenging because there were quite a few donations, while there was not a lot of table space to lay them all out. We ended up making it work, which was a relief. We also had to help write placards for all of the donations to show what they were. For the actual event, we helped during the beginning by standing by the door to make sure people that bought tickets and said were gonna go, actually went.  After that, we supervised and walked around for a little bit before the auction took place. Once the auction was about to begin, we gave the...
